Kendrick Lamar leads nominations at AMAs, competing against Taylor Swift and Beyoncé
Super Bowl headliner and Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar is set to compete against artists like Post Malone, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé at the American Music Awards (AMAs) in Las Vegas on Monday. Lamar leads the nominations with 10 nods, including the prestigious artist of the year award, where he faces off against Swift, who holds the record for the most AMAs with 40.
The AMAs will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m. Eastern (Midnight GMT), with Jennifer Lopez hosting the event. Winners are determined by fan votes, adding an engaging element to the competition.
In addition to artist of the year, Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us," stemming from his feud with Drake, is nominated for song of the year. This track gained significant attention after Lamar performed it at the Super Bowl and won five Grammys. Drake has since filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group over the song's release.
Post Malone is also a strong contender with eight nominations, including favorite male country artist and favorite country album for "F-1 Trillion." Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter," which won a Grammy for album of the year, is nominated for the same category at the AMAs, along with her nomination for favorite female country artist.
The ceremony will honor Janet Jackson with the Icon award for her global influence, while Rod Stewart will receive a lifetime achievement award. Performances will feature a star-studded lineup, including Lopez, Jackson, Stewart, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Lainey Wilson.
