A surprise death in "The Simpsons" after thirty-five years of "good" and loyal service

Springfield in mourning. While the Simpsons continue their journey, with a thirty-fifth season currently airing across the Atlantic, the series has just "killed off" one of its recurring characters. This is Larry Dalrymple, better known as Larry The Barfly. Appearing from the first episode of Matt Groening's show, he was one of the regulars at Moe's tavern, alongside Lenny, Carl, Sam, Barney, and, of course, Homer.

Episode 765 of the 35th season, entitled "Cremains of the Day," tells the story of the gang's journey to pay their final respects to Larry and scatter his ashes. Obviously, not everything will go as planned. Balding, with a sad gaze when not immersed in his pint of beer and always wearing a red jacket, Larry leaves behind friends embarrassed for not having taken more interest in their drinking buddy, and many fans saddened to lose a figure, even if discreet, who has been with them for thirty-five years.

It remains to be seen who will be the next character to disappear from the series. Before him, jazzman Murphy, Maude Flanders (Ned Flanders' wife, Marge and Homer's neighbor), as well as many pets of the Simpson family, have already paid dearly for the cruelty of the showrunners.

Recall that "The Simpsons" is an American animated television series created by Matt Groening and first aired on December 17, 1989, on the Fox network.

The series features the Simpson family, a stereotype of an American middle-class family. Their adventures serve as a satire of the American way of life. The family members are Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Abe, Homer's father.

Since its inception, the series has won dozens of awards, including thirty-two Primetime Emmy Awards, thirty Annie Awards, and a Peabody Award. Time Magazine's December 31, 1999 issue named it the best television series of the 20th century, and it received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 14, 2000.
