The film "Legally Blonde" will soon to be adapted to a reality series for TV by Reese Witherspoon

A series inspired by "Legally Blonde" a classic American comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and released in 2001, is in the works on Prime Video. The actress will serve as an executive producer under the banner of her production company, Hello Sunshine.

As reported by Variety, Reese Witherspoon will collaborate on this project with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the duo behind the series "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl." Also serving as executive producers, the pair will be responsible for writing the series.

This series project is presented by Deadline as a spin-off; in fact, it is unknown whether Reese Witherspoon will reprise her role as Elle Woods, or if the show will focus on another character. The American media outlet adds that Hello Sunshine and Prime Video suggest that a second television spin-off is already being considered.

The original film featured Reese Witherspoon as a young airhead who embarks on a law degree at Harvard to win back her ex-boyfriend. Despised by her peers, she discovers an unsuspected appetite for justice.

With its $140 million worldwide box office earnings, this film by Robert Luketic was followed by a sequel two years later, "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde," and then a third installment. Reese Witherspoon did not reprise her role in this last film, serving only as a producer.

A television series based on the film "Legally Blonde" in English has also been announced. This series, titled "Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods," is expected to follow a reality TV format and focus on finding a new actress to play Elle Woods in the Broadway musical adaptation of the film. The show will seek to find a talented and charismatic actress for the lead role.
