James Bond Films to Stream on Netflix in Surprising Amazon MGM Deal
Netflix subscribers will soon have the chance to watch several James Bond films, thanks to an unexpected agreement with Amazon MGM, the current owner of the iconic franchise. The deal, effective January 15, 2026, allows viewers in the U.S., German-speaking countries, France, Latin America, and a number of other territories to access some of the most popular entries in the Bond series for three months. Titles available include the latest film, 'No Time to Die', as well as Die Another Day, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall.
In addition to the Bond films, Netflix will also feature other Amazon-owned properties, including select entries from the Rocky and Creed franchises, as well as the Legally Blonde series. Amazon original programming such as Hunters is already available on Netflix in several regions, while other series like 'The Man in the High Castle' are also part of the streaming lineup, according to The Variety.
Chris Ottinger, Head of Worldwide Distribution at Amazon MGM Studios, highlighted the reasoning behind the move, explaining, “When Amazon acquired MGM, the goal was to continue licensing the studio’s iconic library to global streaming and television partners. Bringing these classic films and shows to Netflix aligns with that strategy. James Bond remains one of the most enduring and influential cinematic franchises, and this agreement demonstrates both the worldwide demand for premium content and the strong partnership we’ve built with Netflix.”
Historically, James Bond films have been featured on Prime Video for two months each year around the franchise’s annual Bond Day in October and have been available on MGM+ from October through December. The Netflix deal represents a significant expansion of access to the series, giving audiences additional opportunities to engage with these beloved films outside of Amazon’s platforms.
The timing is notable as fans eagerly await the 26th James Bond film, set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve. While the director is already confirmed, the release is expected to be several years away, possibly around 2028. By bringing a selection of classic and recent Bond films to Netflix, Amazon MGM aims to maintain global interest in the franchise and ensure audiences remain connected to the adventures of 007 in the years leading up to the next installment.
