Quentin Tarantino will not direct "The Movie Critic," the film he had declared to be his tenth and final as a director

Variety magazine confirmed that the director Quentin Tarantino had abandoned the project of "The Movie Critic", which would have been his tenth and last film, and revealed that sources indicated he would not rewrite the project either.

Last February, Brad Pitt was rumored to be involved in the film (a collaboration that would have reunited the actor-director duo after working together on "Inglorious Bastards" in 2009 and "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" in 2019). "The Movie Critic" was supposed to take place in 1977 and was supposed to follow a film critic who writes reviews for a pornographic magazine.

During the CannesFestival last year, Tarantino refused to answer questions about the film, but said, "I can't tell you anything until you've seen the film. I'm tempted to do some character monologues, but I won't. Maybe if there were fewer cameras... We'll have to wait and see."

Variety also reported last September that Tarantino had received a $20.2 million grant from California for the film, identified as "#10," referring to the director's 10th film.

"I love shooting in California," Tarantino said at the time. "I started making movies here and it's only right that I shoot my last film in the world capital of cinema. There's nothing like shooting in my hometown; the crews are the best I've ever worked with and the locations are amazing. The producers and I are thrilled to be shooting #10 in Los Angeles."

It is not yet known if the director will change his mind and decide to direct yet another movie with the money he had received.

Quentin Tarantino has received numerous awards throughout his career for his work as a filmmaker. Some of the major awards include: Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay, for "Pulp Fiction"(1994) and Tarantino has also won three Golden Globe Awards, all for Best Screenplay - Motion Picture, for "Pulp Fiction," "Django Unchained," and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" (2019).

He also received multiple BAFTA nominations, winning for Best Original Screenplay for "Pulp Fiction" and has been nominated for Best Director and Best Film for "Pulp Fiction" and "Inglourious Basterds."

As for Cannes Film Festival, Tarantino's films have been well-received "Pulp Fiction" winning the prestigious Palme d'Or in 1994. He has also received the festival's Best Director award for "Inglourious Basterds."
