Leonardo DiCaprio will play Frank Sinatra in the biopic being prepared by Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese doesn't stop. The 81-year-old director, who released "Killers of the Flower Moon" last year, is preparing two new films, one about Jesus and the other about the famous singer Frank Sinatra.

Scorsese, who had worked on this project before abandoning it in 2017 due to a lack of agreement with Sinatra's heirs, would like Leonardo DiCaprio to play the crooner and Jennifer Lawrence to play his second wife, Ava Gardner.

For the moment, Tina Sinatra, the singer's daughter, has not yet given her approval for this film. However, musical biopics are popular in Hollywood right now. The one about Bob Marley was a surprise success, and Timothée Chalamet is preparing one about Bob Dylan.

While waiting for the release of the Sinatra biopic, Scorsese will be filming a film about the life of Jesus later this year. The film is inspired by a book by Shūsaku Endō, a Japanese novelist whose work Scorsese adapted in 2016, titled "Silence."

This project, which last year received the blessing of Pope Francis, will be filmed in Italy and Egypt, among other locations. Andrew Garfield, who also starred in "Silence," and Miles Teller are rumored to be the lead actors.

Accustomed in recent years to historical epics, Scorsese intends to make this project about Jesus a short film, about 1 hour and 20 minutes long, set in contemporary times, as he announced in the columns of the Los Angeles Times earlier this year.

"I'm trying to find new ways to make Christianity more accessible and to detach it from all the negativity associated with it because of the Church," the director said.

It should be noted that Scorsese is also preparing with Leonardo DiCaprio an adaptation of David Grann's book "The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon," a project that will recount a dark chapter in 18th-century history, a mutiny that occurred on a British Navy ship.
