Sebastian Stan portrays Donald Trump in "The Apprentice" competing at Cannes

Actor Sebastian Stan appears unrecognizable in the film "The Apprentice" selected in the official competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, a feature film by Ali Abbasi in which the actor plays a young Donald Trump.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The Apprentice" - a nod to the reality TV show of the same name, produced and hosted by Donald Trump before his political career - will follow the former President of the United States in the 1970s-80s, as he tried to become a real estate tycoon in New York.

The film will focus on his relationship with Roy Cohn, a star lawyer and figure of McCarthyism. The latter will be played by Jeremy Strong, actor of the hit series "Succession". The cast will be completed by Maria Bakalova (Borat 2) as Ivana Trump and Martin Donovan, who will play Fred Trump, Donald Trump's father.

"The Apprentice" is one of the highly anticipated films in the Official Selection of Cannes 2024, which will kick off on May 14th. But it will face tough competition to win the Palme d'Or: the jury chaired by Greta Gerwig will have to choose between feature films signed by big names in world cinema such as Francis Ford Coppola, who will present his titanic Megalopolis, as well as Gilles Lellouche, Jacques Audiard, and Christophe Honoré.

Remember that Sebastian Stan is a Romanian-American actor, born on August 13, 1982, in Constanța, Romania.

He achieved international fame with his role as James "Bucky" Barnes in the "Captain America" trilogy and in other films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in Ridley Scott's "The Martian" and in Craig Gillespie's "I, Tonya". In 2021, he reprised his role as Bucky Barnes alongside Anthony Mackie for a mini-series aired on Disney+ centered on their characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier". In 2022, he starred alongside actress Daisy Edgar Jones in the film "Fresh".
