Supercharged Performance with M3
The new iPad Air with the M3 chip is designed to enhance productivity and creativity for users on the go, catering to everyone from aspiring creatives to travelers editing content. The M3 chip brings significant improvements over its predecessor, the M1, with a more powerful 8-core CPU that is up to 35% faster for multithreaded workflows.
In addition, the M3 features a 9-core GPU, delivering up to 40% faster graphics performance compared to the M1. This is the first time Apple’s advanced graphics architecture has been integrated into the iPad Air, introducing dynamic caching along with hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing. As a result, users can experience up to 4 times faster performance for graphics-intensive tasks, enabling more realistic lighting, reflections, shadows, and immersive gaming experiences.
The upgraded Neural Engine in the M3 chip also enhances AI capabilities in iPadOS, being up to 60% faster for AI-based workloads compared to the M1. Other benefits of the M3 include support for Apple Intelligence, the availability of both 11-inch and 13-inch models, and compatibility with advanced accessories like the new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro.
