The private Parisian apartment of the German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in February 2019, will be auctioned on March 26th

A luxurious three-room Parisian apartment, spanning 260 square meters and featuring a dressing room of over 50 square meters, belonging to the late German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in February 2019, will be auctioned on March 26th, according to information provided by the notary office handling the sale.

This real estate property will be offered at a starting price of 5.3 million euros.

Karl Lagerfeld, renowned for his iconic creations and fashion shows for Chanel, Fendi, and his own brand, resided in this apartment for about a decade until his passing, as stated by Thomas Jousselin, a partner notary at the Althemis firm, to AFP.

Located in a 17th-century building on Quai Voltaire, in the heart of historic Paris, boasting stunning views of the Seine River and the Louvre Museum, this apartment was entirely renovated by the designer in a futuristic style, featuring concrete floors and frosted glass partitions, he explained.

The main room, measuring 120 square meters, includes numerous backlit shelves. The sleeping area, overlooking the courtyard, comprises a bedroom with removable partitions, adjacent to a dressing room of over 50 square meters.

This auction, following several others involving assets once owned by the designer in 2021 and 2022, will take place at the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as online and by phone. Access to the auction is subject to a deposit of 1.06 million euros, the same source specified.

According to Me. Jousselin, this auction format before the Chamber of Notaries was decided upon by the Monégasque administrator overseeing the designer's estate, who appointed a French counterpart. Although the lawyer did not provide details about Karl Lagerfeld's inheritance, he asserted that there were no conflicts regarding this sale.
