France Televisions will showcase its programs at the Cannes Film Festival

France Télévisions announced on Tuesday that it would adapt several of its flagship programs for the Cannes Film Festival, from "Quelle Époque" hosted by Léa Salamé to "C à vous" with Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine.

The public broadcasting group, which took over from Canal+ as the festival's media partner two years ago, is maintaining its approach that attracted a total of 28.2 million viewers in 2022 and 34.9 million the previous year, with no major changes. Among the announced new features is the inclusion of "Quelle Époque," the weekly talk show hosted by Léa Salamé.

Additionally, the dog from the film "Anatomy of a Fall," which won the Palme d'Or last year and was nominated for an Oscar, will return to the Croisette for celebrity interviews, with the voice of comedian Raphaël Mezrahi. The film program "Beau Geste," hosted by Pierre Lescure, will also be broadcasted from Cannes and will continue next year, as stated by France Télévisions executives. The group will broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies , with the latter being moved up to 7:00 PM. Actress Camille Cottin will host the closing ceremony this year.

France Télévisions aims to "engage French viewers who cannot attend Cannes by providing them access to films they would not have seen otherwise," emphasized Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, director of channels and programs at France Télévisions, during a press conference. In addition to the programs, a film lineup is planned, with a selection from the extensive group catalog, broadcasted on channels and the France.tv platform.

The public group does not disclose the investment related to its partnership with the Cannes Film Festival but specifies that the budget remains "in the same proportions, if not lower than previous years," with a single technical team and shared studio for all programs.
