France: Marine Le Pen and 8 MEPs found guilty of embezzling public funds

The Paris court on Monday found nine National Rally (RN) MEPs, including Marine Le Pen, guilty of embezzling public funds in the case of European parliamentary assistants.

The twelve assistants tried alongside them were also found guilty of receiving misappropriated funds. The court determined that the total financial damage amounted to €2.9 million, as the European Parliament was made to cover salaries for individuals who were actually working for the far-right party.
