Microsoft is set to introduce a key on its keyboards to provide direct access to the Generative Copilot AI

The American giant microsoft continues to demonstrate its pioneering role in the field of generative AI. After partnering with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, Microsoft becomes the first to make physical changes to the hardware that will power AIs. Future computers will benefit from a key to launch an AI directly.

It has been 30 years since the keyboards of Windows-based computers were last updated. Since 1994, with the addition of the famous Windows key (located at the bottom left), nothing had changed. Until today! Microsoft has announced that a new key will be installed on new computers produced in 2024 with Windows 11, allowing direct access to the Copilot AI assistant.

Cubics.com tells us that this key will be located directly next to the left directional key on the keyboard. This move by the Bill Gates-founded company marks the beginning of 2024, which Microsoft aims to be the "year of AI PCs."

"We see this as a new transformative moment in our journey with Windows, where Copilot will be the entry point into the world of AI on PCs," said Executive Vice President Yusuf Mehdi. Currently, the only shortcut to quickly access Copilot is Windows+C.

It's worth noting that the AI is currently available worldwide, except in the European Union, where Microsoft still needs to comply with local data privacy requirements. Thus, until agreements are reached, this key will only open the Start menu. However, if you truly want to access Copilot right now, there is a workaround to find it on Windows 10.
