Celebrating 90 years: Jaguar introduces exclusive XFL edition in China

Jaguar is in the midst of transforming into a high-end, EV-only brand, aiming to compete with luxury manufacturers like Bentley. As a result, the brand has not introduced new models for some time, leading to a significant decline in global sales. However, in a surprising move, Jaguar has launched a new version of the XFL, exclusively available in China.

The XFL is a stretched variant of the XF sedan, developed specifically for the Chinese market with a wheelbase extended by 140 mm (5.5 inches), totaling 3,100 mm (122 inches). The new model, named the 90th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, commemorates Jaguar’s 90 years in the automotive industry and starts at 269,800 yuan (approximately 37,500).Alessluxuriousvariant,theExclusiveDeluxe,isalsoavailable,startingat239,800yuan(37,500). A less luxurious variant, the Exclusive Deluxe, is also available, starting at 239,800 yuan (37,500).Alessluxuriousvariant,theExclusiveDeluxe,isalsoavailable,startingat239,800yuan(33,400).

For context, the standard-wheelbase XF in the U.S. features a 246 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine and starts at $49,800, although availability may be limited.

Despite the XFL's design dating back to 2015, it remains visually appealing. The version for China includes a blacked-out grille, black air intakes and lower grille, and darkened window trim instead of chrome. Inside, the 90th Anniversary Collector’s Edition boasts a modern look, featuring the large Pivi Pro infotainment system and an abundance of physical controls, a rarity in many new cars from China.

The 2025 XFL retains the familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, available in two outputs: 250 hp and 300 hp, with torque figures of 269 lb-ft (365 Nm) or 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). It comes equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The future of Jaguar hinges on the success of its upcoming all-electric four-door GT, inspired by the Type 00 concept from last year. Set to debut in 2026, this model will utilize the new Jaguar Electrical Architecture and is expected to have a range of up to 430 miles (692 km) on a single charge, although further details are yet to be revealed.
