The comic book "Lucas' wars" on the genesis of "Star Wars" awarded two prizes

A comic book on the genesis of "Star Wars," titled "Les Guerres de Lucas" (Lucas' Wars), by Laurent Hopman and illustrator Renaud Roche, has been honored with two awards from public media in the same week.

Awarded last Tuesday the franceinfo prize for current affairs and documentary comics, the same title received the BD Fnac France Inter prize on Friday.

Published in October by Deman editions, this comic book narrates the extreme challenges faced by director George Lucas in preparing and shooting "Star Wars," released in 1977.

The film would become the fourth episode in the science fiction saga, chronologically, and a Hollywood classic. However, George Lucas had to persist, "from the casting hell to the nightmarish filming, where actor quarrels, secret love affairs, and chaotic disasters punctuate daily life," according to the publisher's summary.

The jury of the Fnac France Inter prize praised it in a statement as "a breath-taking dive into the struggles of creation, intense and poignant, yet funny nonetheless."
