Perrie, an Egyptian Moroccan singer, has joined Spotify's worldwide program as an ambassador for EQUAL

Perrie, an Egyptian Moroccan rapper, has been named as the EQUAL ambassador for Swedish streaming service Spotify, which arrived in the area last week. EQUAL Arabia aims to promote the work of female artists by recognizing them on a global scale.

Perrie has been making waves in Egypt's rap industry over the last year by teaming with some of the genre's key figures, like Abyusif on "Mamlaka," Lil Baba on "Perrie Taniya," and others.

According to Spotify, the artist has huge fan base in Germany, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, to name a few. EQUAL Arabia will feature a female ambassador from the Arab globe each month to promote their new music releases.

It's not the first time the streaming service has focused on the region's female voices. Sawtik, an audio platform that celebrates upcoming Arab women creators, was launched in 2020. Sawtik will now be a part of EQUAL Arabia.

Spotify released a short video made by Rana Alarian and starring Lebanese singer Carole Samaha to celebrate the launch of the new program.

The singer is accompanied in the video by Perrie and two additional music stars: Almas from the United Arab Emirates and Dina El-Wedidi from Egypt.
