Apple is refreshing its Apple Watch SE with a new design and is expected to launch it alongside the iPhone Air later this year

Apple is reportedly planning to refresh the Apple Watch SE this year with a new design, as indicated by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his newsletter to subscribers.

While the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 will likely retain their existing designs, both models could feature high blood pressure detection.

The updated SE model will showcase a new look, while the Series 11 and Ultra 3 are expected to remain largely unchanged.

Notably, the Ultra 3 is set to gain satellite connectivity and access to the 5G RedCap network. High blood pressure detection is anticipated for both the Ultra and Series models.

Gurman also mentioned that Apple is collaborating with Globalstar to enhance its satellite service, which may enable new features in the future.

The new Apple Watch models are expected to be unveiled alongside the next generation of iPhones this fall.

Apple may have also chosen the name iPhone 17 Air for the anticipated slim iPhone, as reported by Gurman. This model is expected to be a "testing ground for future technologies," including advancements that could lead to Apple's first foldable devices.

The name is consistent with Apple's previous product lines, as both the MacBook Air and iPad Air were the thinnest models in their categories upon release. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be approximately 2 millimeters thinner than current iPhones, with thickness estimates ranging from 5.5mm to 6.25mm, placing it close to the M4 iPad Pro's depth and making it thinner than the iPhone 6.

This emphasis on thinness is not just for aesthetics; it may facilitate Apple's future foldable iPads and iPhones.

Gurman also mentions that the iPhone 17 Air could be one of the first devices to feature Apple’s in-house cell modem, codenamed Sinope, which is expected to debut in the iPhone SE this spring.

The new lineup is also anticipated to include Apple-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips, although it's unclear if these will be featured in the 17 Air.

Speculation suggests that the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch ProMotion OLED display—Apple's 120Hz variable refresh rate screen, which has been limited to iPhone Pro models until now.

It may also come with a single 48-megapixel rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera. The device is likely to be powered by Apple’s A19 chip and include 8GB of RAM, enabling advanced AI features similar to those expected in
