Britney Spears asserts that she is definitively turning her back on the music industry.

Having been freed from her conservatorship for a little over two years, Britney Spears has denied preparing a new album but mentioned anonymously writing songs for other artists.

The singer does not have plans to record a new album. Dispelling rumors about her potential musical comeback, the pop star went as far as stating on Instagram that she would "never" set foot in the music industry again.

"Just to be clear, most of the information (about me) is false!" she wrote as a caption to a 17th-century painting by Guido Reni where the character of Salome holds the head of John the Baptist on a platter.

While confirming that she is writing, Britney Spears mentions writing "for fun" or "for other people." "Those who have read my book know: there are many things you don't know about me..."

The singer claims to have been working anonymously in this manner for two years: "I have written over twenty songs for other people in the past two years. I am a ghostwriter, and honestly, I love working this way!!!"

Britney Spears adds that her autobiography, "The Woman in Me," which saw immense success in bookstores last year, was published with her consent. "People who say that my book was published without my approval are completely wrong."
