Apple adopts Type-C charger after EU approves single charger reform

As the market awaits the release of the next iPhone, Apple decided to introduce a USB Type-C charger port for the first time, which is expected to be announced on September 12.

Unlike its competitors, the company's phones now use its own "Lightning" adapter.

According to EU law, phone manufacturers must use a universal charging port by December 2024 to save consumers money and reduce waste.

Although most new Apple devices, including the latest iPads, use a Type-C charger, the company opposed the European Union requirement.

When it was launched in September 2021, an Apple representative told BBC News: “Strict regulations that impose only one type of charger stifle innovation rather than encourage it, which harms consumers in Europe and around the world.”
